Soundweb London BLU-BOB2 Audio Output Expander

The Soundweb London BLU-BOB2, affectionately known as the “break-out box”, is designed to provide 8 channels of analog audio output expansion via a high bandwidth, fault-tolerant digital audio bus. This device is a key component in expanding audio systems efficiently and reliably.

Featuring a low latency digital audio bus capable of handling up to 256 channels, the BLU-BOB2 ensures excellent audio quality and minimal delay. The connection between compatible devices can be extended up to 100 meters with standard Category 5e cabling. For even greater distances, up to 10km, the BSS Audio MC-1 fiber optic media converter can be utilized with single mode fiber.

Configuration is straightforward with six DIP switches located on the rear of the device. These switches facilitate the selection of consecutive 8-channel groups from the available 256 channels. Importantly, all configuration adjustments are made via these DIP switches, without requiring the use of HiQnet™ London Architect software.

The outputs are standard analog line level, using the familiar terminal block connectors prevalent in the Soundweb London range. Each output channel’s status is easily monitored via front panel LED indicators, displaying signal presence and power status clearly.

The device is available in two chassis styles: the BLU-BOB1, a half rack width version suited for desk or wall mounting, and the BLU-BOB2, a more industrial 19” single rack space option with mounting ears, ideal for equipment racks. Both models share identical front panel indicators and rear panel connections.

Powered by an included 12V DC adapter, the BLU-BOB2 integrates seamlessly with other Soundweb London components to deliver a customized, scalable audio solution.
